Oral- A park

This picture depicts a scene at the park. There are many people exercising. Most of them are old people.

A wheelchair-bound old man is using his hands to wheel the wheelchair.A young man who is accompanying him may be his son.The two of them are keeping pace with each other, perhaps, his son is jogging behind him slowly to keep watch for his father's safety.

I think they can communicate with each other so that they can foster their relationship. It is heartwarming to see the young man accompanying his father and exercising together as young people nowadays do not really care about their parents especially when they are very old.

Despite the old man being immobile,he persist on keeping fit.Nowadays, old people value their health more so that they will not be a burden and they will not create a lot of inconviniences and worries to their family. They are also responsible for their physical health.Sometimes, they will go out to the open to get fresh air, perhaps, they will get to make more friends so that they will not be lonely.

A robust looking man who is listening to his MP3 is jogging. He might have a habit of listening to music as it may help relaxtion and puts minds off the strain of his muscles.

I think that music which is especially fast can spur a person to run faster as it was an effect on our brain.A disadvantage of listening to music while jogging is that we may not be alert to the surroundings as we are to engrossed in it and accidents may happen. The young man should not blast the music but play it at a reasonable volume.

A little girl who is supporting the old man who may be her grandfather are having a stroll. This may be the bonding time between grandfather and grandchild. The girl takes care of her grandfather is exhibiting filial piety towards the elders in her family. She is a good role-model for the young to emulate.

An old woman and a man who may be her son are walking briskly together.Beside the man,a boy wearing a cap who may be his son is jogging slowly, perhaps, he is keeping pace with his grandmother and his father.

I think that they can communicate with each other when they are exercising so that they can foster their relationship.

A little boy who is sitting on a bench hurled a litter into the bin but it landed onto the ground. The old woman sitting beside him who may be his grandmother looks tired, perhaps, she does not get used to waking up early in the morning to go to the park and bringing her grandson there.

I think that the little boy who hurled the litter into the bin was not wrong but he has to pick it up and throw it into the bin.If he does not do so,he is making the park dirty and if tourists happen to be there, they will have a bad image of Singapore. If that happens,Singapore's "Clean and green city" reputation would be ruined.

Futhermore,if the litter is left there, people will trip and fall.If the old people trip and fall over that litter, they will be seriously injured as they are very weak.If he does not throw the litter into the bin,he is very selfish and only cares about himself and not others.

I hope my family will exercise together in the park every morning.

Oral

Oral-birthday party

This picture depicts a scene of an old man’s birthday party in his house. There were many
people, perhaps they are the family members of the old man.

Balloons and a banner saying: “Happy 80th Birthday, Grandpa!” were put up in the house. I think they were put up by the old man’s grandchildren. They helped to decorate the place so that the place will look beautiful.

Despite the grandchildren do small things like putting up the decorations, I think the grandfather really appreciate it.

There were some children queuing up with presents in their hands, perhaps, they are the old man’s grandchildren. One of the children, who is a girl with shoulder length hair is giving a present to the old man who is sitting on a chair comfortably and standing beside him was an old lady, perhaps she is his wife. He stretches out his hand to receive the present and was smiling happily. Behind the girl, there were three boys with presents in their hands. The boy behind her was smiling while looking at the delicious food placed on the table. The other two boys, who are waiting to give the present to the old man, were snatching the present.

I think the both of them wants to give the present to the old man but they should not snatch the present from one another because if the present is fragile, it will smash into pieces. They should give the present to the old man together.

Furthermore, they should know how to behave themselves. If something happens to them, they will spoil everyone’s mood.

A table of delicious food was placed in an area. There was a birthday cake, some fruits, chicken wings, etc. A man was helping a lady to hold a tray of food. The lady was scooping the food from it and was putting them into one of the container on the table. It seems that the two of them cooked some of the food.

It is a good thing if they cook some of the food so that they will cook what everyone likes to eat and can save the cost of amount spent on food. It was very nice of them to do this.

I will try to contribute some food if I am going to any parties.

At one side of the table, a man was holding a bottle of liquid and pouring it into a bowl, perhaps it was a bottle of wine. He was smiling and it seems that he is thinking that everyone will like the wine.

It is nice of him to help out but, he should tell the children not to drink the wine as it may contain alcohol.

A girl wearing a hairband and a boy beside her were standing at the other side of the table. The boy was pointing to the birthday cake and gave a warm smile. The girl was also smiling when she looked at the cake. They seemed that they could not wait to eat the cake as it looks delicious.

Having parties is a good way of celebrating birthdays as many people come to celebrate it with you and as the saying goes, “The more the merrier”.

p.s. I think that the ending part, "The more the merrier", is quite wierd.

superkids
Sunday, March 23, 2008

The first day of the Motivational Camp, we got to know our coach, Melvin and his "helper"? Hui Ting. Melvin was very funny and he looked like Adrain Phang.

We got 2 books, a sketch book and a set of colour pens.
After recess, everyone created a group of their own.
Our group consist of 10 members:
Hasbi (leader), Shahrizal, Tammie, Nicholas, Amsyar, Dinie, Jun Ting, Sharmain, Candy and Me

Then, we created our flags, group names and cheer.
Our group name is HASBABY :)
and Dinie created our intresting cheer.

Melvin told us about his school life, etc.

Afterthat we played some games.
1. pass around in groups
our strategy: we stand very close to each other.
2. memorise 30 words in groups
strategy: only memorise the words we are suppose to say instead of the 30 words

I learnt:

By doing the things that you do not like but it helps you.
example: Michael Jackson (his father taught him to dance continuosly and caned him when he's going to stop. Therefore, he can dance for hours without stopping)

9 Principles Of Memory

1 visualization
2 association
3 outstanding
4 rythm
5 colours
6 humour
7 overview
8 5 senses
9 violence

LIVE
*we should be like the eagle
it takes 100% responsibility

The eagle flys in the sky looking for food. If there's a fish in the river, it will try to catch it. If it is unable to catch the fish, it will not give up until it catches the fish.

EXIST
*we should not be like the sheep
they:
-follow
-blame
-complain
-give excuses

for example: John was walking home from school and decides to do his homework, revise what he has learnt, do some assesment books, etc. as tomorow is the exams.
But when John's friends ask if he would want to join them for a game of soccer, he FOLLOWS. When his results came out(marks low), he blames, complains and give excuses to his friends: "All because of you, you asked me to join you for a game of soccer thus my marks were low...."

Quote: "CHOICES have CONSEQUENCES"

Ultimate Success Formula

When we have beliefs and self-esteem, we create a goal. We must have a strategy and take action. If it fails, nevermind, take it as a learning expirience. We must try over and over again with different strategy so that it will lead us to success.

Take Thomas Edison for example, he tried over and over again with different strategy to create light and it was a success. Thus, we have light now. If there were no such people, many things would not be created.

"Be brave as your fathers before you. Have faith and go forward" Thomas Alva Edison

High Self-Esteem
We have to accept ourself
-strength
-weakness
-LOOKS

Be able to take
-JOKES
-risk
-rejection
(speak up)

and voice out when needed.

Why do people make jokes out of us?
They make jokes out of us as they want us to feel more lousy then them.

We watched some video clips about
Late Mattie- He contracts a disease that his mucles will die. His four siblings died of this. His mother gave him 3 wishes but instead of going to disneyland, buying toys, he wants to write a book on world peace, meet ophra and the oldest president in his country as he thinks that going to disneyland lasts only one day, buying toys only lasts for one day and afterthat, he will get tired of the toys. But he says that the 3 wishes of his will last forever..
and The Miracle Man and Rocky (dunno is 2 or3)

Revision Methods
1. recall by daydreaming
2. pair teaching
3. posters
I think pair teaching is more useful as not only one person revises but two.

Picture Diagrams
Picture diagrams are really useful esp. for Science

Whole Brain Notes
we can use
1. mindmaps*
2.clustermaps*
3. picture diagrams*
4. flow charts
5. process maps
* more useful

We drew a clustermap on Science and we have to memorise it. Afterthat, we have to draw a copy of it again. I got about 70% right and I realise that it is very useful.

We all have the same neurology
so..

If others can do it, so can I !!!

The difference is Skills & Strategy.

The greatest failure in life
= not to participate

Why do we make notes?
-SRU-
S ave time
R emember
U nderstand better

In clustermaps, we should have:
1. topic centre
2. Subheading
3. main points
4. details/ pics
5. Next subheading

Everyone did a list of "complaints" on our selfs, family and school

Afterthat, Melvin showed us pictures of skin disease children and how they look like when they first came into the world. They looked disgusting but very poor thing. Their skin was cracked and their flesh inside was showed and blood was coming out almost everywhere. Their eyeballs were red in colour (whole) is it because the skin inside cracked and bleed?
Melvin told us the story of one of the girl, who have the disease, how she studied, etc.
She wants to go to school but her classmates will laugh at her so she have to studie at home.

Then, he showed us another picture of a boy picking up something on the floor to eat.
He shared with us his and some other kids' (with him) story. Their parents died and they cannot go to school.

He then became very mad. He said that we complain this and that and we are already very lucky that we have a family, can go to school compared to the kids he mentioned just now..

The sad music started playing and he said: imagine that you are in a dark room alone. In front of you is a white screen. Then the story began..
Many people cried and i cried too. Then i stopped but cried again maybe because the cry was "contagious".

Then, Melvin told us to make a card for our parents and give them on the last day which they will come to school and listen to what we've learnt, etc.

On the last day of the Motivational Camp, YY came to teach us some Maths problem sum, etc.
He said that -ACL- "At first Change Later'' word problem sums are very common in PSLE.

Before dinner, Melvin took out a $10 note and asked us who want this $10 note and everyone shouted like hell. Shouting: Me! Me! But after a while, Allan went to the front and told Melvin: "I want the $10 note." and Melvin gave it to him!!!
He said that if we want something we should take action. Allan took action by going all the way to the front and he got it. Almost everyone was thinking like: so good he can get the money..

Afterthat, everyone went to the canteen to take dinner. The food was okok and it is vegetarian food. Sharmain and i don't really like it but i told her it was better than nothing.

Then, everyone went up and there was many parents. Melvin did the talk and when it was about to end, he gave some people chances to read out their "love letters" to their parents on stage. Then he let us all give our "love letters" to our parents at the back.

My classmates and i went to queue up to say thank you to Mdm Sharifah. I wanted to do the same thing to Miss Chia but there was not enough time left so everyone have to sit down.

Lastly, i would like to thank Mdm Sharifah for having this Motivational Camp. It was very meaningful :)

movie
Saturday, March 15, 2008

On thursday, me, Hazel and Sharmain went to Tampines to watch "The Leap Years".

We went to buy the tickets then went to eat lunch at Century Square's FoodCourt.
Hazel ate Western Food and me and Sharmain ate Japanese food.

Afterthat, we went to the arcade. We played some games.
Then we bought some drinks and nachos as we do not really like popcorn.

After wtching the movie, we talk about it.
Me and Hazel said it was not very nice and not so touching. (no offence)

Then we went to take some neoprints. The whole process was so fun :)
When we took finish, we went to design them.
Sharmain took the neoprints home and will send a photo of it to me.
I will post a picture of it next time.

It was truly a fun day.

fools vs the wise

The Fools vs The Wise

I think that we should not be the fools but change to be the wise. Fools are just like a robot or puppet being controlled by someone. Fools do not digest what they learnt and they just do the corrections without understanding why they were wrong. Therefore, they will repeat their mistakes again.

However, the wise ask quetions to understand more properly. They digest what they learn. When they are doing thier corretions, they will try to figure out why the mistake was made. Once they figure out why, they will remember it and will not repeat it again. The wise will always think before they act.

If we are still the fools, we should change to be the wise so that when we are doing something and do not know why, we will automatically ask questions to understand.

tt day

That day; very long already but i forgot to post.

That day, me my marmie, sister and daddie went down stairs.
On that day, there was a Spring Festival 2008 thingy and Shawn was going to perform there.
We were expecting a Chingay as someone said there is so my marmie taught of bringing my sister down to see.
But to our surprise, there was no Chingay :(
So we went to the Festival area to watch the lion dance.

When the lion dance started, it was quite loud as we were standing quite near and my sister was very scared; she's 1+ years old.
My daddie brought her home and my marmie and me stayed to watch and see wad they are selling.

Some pictures:

The beautiful moon hanging in the sky that night.

A red coloured sort of lantern flying.

The place
The stage

lion heads. hahas

People sitting and watching. Noticed the balloons in their hands? For what? They buy the balloon; one for $2. Then they will get a no. each If their no. is choosen, they will have a lucky draw. They must try to catch as many "flying" notes as they can and the moneys is theirs.

Why are u 2 so tall? Oh, nvm. i'm too short then take until the 2 guy's head.

half bodied lions taken by me. I so short then stand behind so many people then so difficult to take the photo. hahas.

This is the lucky draw thingy. They go in to the box then inside got wind come up then they will have to catch the "flying" money. It was like damm fun but very difficult to catch the money.

After that, Shawn performed but i did not get the chance to take a good photo of him so no photos available. After that, I saw Shane i think he went to but drinks and he saw me too. Then, me and my marmie went NTUC for a while.
That day was fun :)
p.s. the photos taken weren't that nice. sry..

sku

Yesterday my brother was packing his things for the camp.
He packed till 11 PM; everyone slept late.
Finally i have peace.
The camp last for only 2 days. They are going to 4 places.

Talking about camp, i remembered my camp experience last year.
My P5 camp last year last for 3 days; better then them.
Although we only go lesser places then them, the places we went were wondeful :)
We went to Sentosa last year at least better then them; they are going to Pasir Ris and East Coast Park.

My P5 camp last year's "theme" (sort of) is "C is for Cookies"
This year's P5 batch the camp "theme" is "D is for Design"
Prehaps, next year's P5 camp "theme" is "E is for---"
