There was English and Mother Tongue compo today.

For English compo, i chose the continuation and wrote 4 1/4 pages
(2 1/4 paper) long.
I wrote about kidnap and loansharks but ended too fast as there was not enough time.

For Mother Tongue compo, i chose the picture one as my choice as i am not so good n the continuation.

The picture was about to little boys making fun of a blind man who plays music on an instrument for a living at the MRT station.

When i wrote finish, i read it again and realised that it sounds more like a oral script then a compo. But its a little too late and i just handed it up.

There's oral today and i was nervous and was curious what picture would i see. My tester was Mrs Yee and i was relieved when i know it was her as it was not other teachers like....

When we were waiting outside of the hall, Yukee and me practised oral and when we went in the hall, we practised too . After a while, Yukee, Faradina and me tried not to stress ourselves up and relax by playing a game which we must use the last 2 alphabets of a word the person said before you and create new words like: empathy, terrific, remarkbly well and so on (good words).

When its my turn, i only practised the reading and picture once each only..
The picture was about a family and there was quite a number of things to say.
I was dissapointed about my conversation with the tester as she asked about 4-5 prompt questions.

But, overall, it was okay.

Today is SPORTS DAY!!!

When we reached the stadium, we were sitted accordingly to our house colours and were given some snacks and our house cheers.

First, the competitors did the marching thingy and then took the pledge. Then the competion started between the 4 houses.

My friends (blue house) and me thought that Blue house would lose as we lose a few times.

So..
The results are..

*drumroll..*

Red house: 190 points
Blue house: 180 points
Yellow house: 165 points
Green house: 185 points

So the winner was RED HOUSE :)
Congratz, Red house!

My friends (blue house) and me were so happy that Blue house was not the last but at least the third :)

p.s. so sad.. this is the last year i'm participating in Changkat's Sports Day..

Forgiveness Therapy

We have to choose 3 sentences we like and put them into our "talking book".
I choose:
-Until you forgive, you will be victimized over and over again, trapped in an emotional prison, unable to move on with the rest of your life.

Self Limiting Beliefs

We also have to choose 3 sentences we like and put them into our "talking book".
I choose:
-Determination always finds a way around obstacles.
-Our thoughts and beliefs colour our vision and perception of the world.
-Whatever you believe becomes your reality.

I really admire the speaker as his clarity, expressivness, pacing and fluency are all so good. He really speaks very well.

We have to use the sentences in our "talking book" at least 3 times. I believe by doing this, it helps us (eps. in oral) and they will be automaticly be included in our speech.

Today, we edited each other's compo- Jungle Trek which we have to pass up tomorrow. I agree with mc that we should look at the previous draft and then see the lastest one so that we will know where are the areas the writer is weak in but this process did not came into my mind. I saw the previous draft of my classmate (just one glimpse) and it was like a different story (maybe just a little difference) compared to the lastest but i did not read through it.

Tomorrow is SPORTS DAY!!!
I hope that BLUE HOUSE will win.

Today, mc asked us to summerise our weaknesses in our Grammar book after doing some tests on

a) Concord (agreement)

b) Prepositions-phrasal verbs

c) formation of words

d) pronouns- which, who, whom, whose


And i realised my areas of confusion:

1. Concord
1) Neither of
- singular verb

a) I put my answer as:
Neither of the brothers want to fight in front of their parents. (wrong)

The answer should be:
Neither of the brothers wants (singular) to fight in front of their parents(correct)

Why? -Neither of is a singular verb.

*we should not be confused with neither..nor...

b) I put my answer as:
All of the books here is donated by members of the public. (wrong)
The answer should be:

Each of the books here is donated by members of the public. (correct)

Why?-All should be together with are not is.

c) I put my answer as:
"All my men knows what to do during an emergency," said the sergeant. (wrong)

The answer should be:
"All my men know what to do during an emergency," said the sergeant. (correct)

Why? -singular have "s" but "all" is plural so there's no "s".

My areas of confusion also includes " Prepositions".

Describe related events:There are many types of shows as comedy,horror,romantic,thrilling,etc.

Opinion:I feel that watching shows adds quality to life as it is a form of enjoyment and helps to de-stress sometimes.

Examples:My favourite shows are discovery shows and comedies.Whenever i watch a discovery show,i can learn something new.When i watch comedies,i feel very happy as i will laugh.It helps me to take my mind off homework and helps to de-stress.

Comparison:I cannot imagine people who does not watch television shows in their life.I believe life may be quite boring for them.To me,no television, no life.

p.s. i think that the ending part, "no television, no life" is quite wierd.
